Owner Spotlight: Robin Klassen

I’m Robin Klassen, a Mortgage Broker in Chilliwack, BC.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I was always good with numbers, so I got into the financial industry and landed a job with the Royal Bank of Canada in 1977. Helping people with their mortgages was my favourite task, and over the last 19 years, I became an expert in the field.

However, I felt limited by the lending options offered by the bank, so I decided to become a mortgage broker and joined Dominion Lending Centre in 2013.

Over the past nineteen years, I have witnessed significant changes in the industry. For instance, when I got my first mortgage you had to have 25% down to get a mortgage. Then the pendulum swung all the way to zero down mortgages, and also refinancing of up to ninety-five percent of the value of the home was allowed. I have also seen amortizations go from forty years, down to twenty-five years.

To ensure that the various changes do not act as obstacles, I work hard to get the best rates. As an individual, I believe what sets me apart is my commitment to provide excellent products for my customers.

I also attribute my success to working with honesty, which builds rapport with clients, and they trust me to give them accurate information. and match them with suitable lenders.

Sometimes things can get incredibly stressful, but seeing the huge smiles on people’s faces after they pick up the keys to their dream home makes it all worth it. Securing a mortgage for clients that have been declined by their banks gives me the most satisfaction.

When I am not assisting clients with their mortgage needs, I love playing golf, reading, working out, and traveling. I’m also a proud Rotarian, helping feed hungry children in my community and delivering Meals on Wheels to housebound seniors.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
